Announcement of the 43th International Killifish Show of the German Killifish Association (DKG) 9th – 12th May, 2013
Quality Hotel Plaza Dresden
Königsbrücker Straße 121a
01099 DresdenThe participation in this show is not bound to a DKG membership; non-members are equally invited to send in their fishes.
Under the conditions listed below, everybody may participate in the show.
Only killifishes are allowed to be sent in. From scientific perspective the genus Oryzias is no longer part of the killifishes (Cyprinodontiformes). Therefore fishes of this genus should not be issued and rated. Offspring from crossings of different species (hybrids) must not be exposed.
Either pairs (1 male and 1 female, in case of hermaphrodites two specimens) or breeding groups (three pairs or two males and four females) can be exposed.
In case more specimens are sent in, only the best pair, respectively the best breeding group will be judged.
By sending fishes to the show, they automatically become property of the DKG. All shown fishes will be auctioned during the last day of the DKG Convention to the benefit of the DKG.
The financial result of the auction serves for funding the costs of the Killifish Show.
The fishes will be kept in plastic tanks with a volume of about 10 litres (2.6 US Gallons). The water equivalents are nearly 8-12° German hardness, 2-5 Carbonate hardness and pH 7,5-8, conductivity of water 300-450 µS/cm.
If fishes are sent in which have been kept in water with added salt, this has to be clearly stated on the transportation container (remarks to be used: salt, low pH, value).
Fishes for the show have to be announced not later than 01st May 2013 by letter or e-mail to:
Hubert Wischmann
Lothringer Weg 35a
45481 Mülheim an der Ruhr
Tel. 0049 (0)208 845824
h.wischmann@t-online.deRegistration can also be made via the online entry form
Please announce your fishes as soon as possible, this makes the classification of the various groups show tanks much easier.
Changes concerning the fishes you want to send in have to be announced without any delay.
Please refrain from fish shipments by air and parcels from abroad because of the difficult conditions for importation (customs, veterinary certificate), although this is regretted by the organizers. It is cheaper to transport the fishes personally or give them to killifish-friends for transport.
All shipments from Germany have to be addressed to:
Deutsche Killifisch Gemeinschaft e.V.
Herrn Thomas Milkuhn
Quality Hotel Plaza Dresden
Königsbrücker Straße 121a
01099 DresdenAnnounced fishes for the show can also be deposited not later than Thursday, 9th of May, 2013, 2 o’clock p.m. at the Convention. There is no guarantee that fishes arriving beyond this time will be judged.
Please pack the fishes generously. We will try to put all fishes into the show tanks as quickly as possible, but in case of numerous show fishes this might take some time.
The transportation containers (plastic bags, etc.) must show the following data:
Genus, species and – should the occasion arise – subspecies and population / location,
the full name of the sender and the name of the killifish association he is member of, respectively the DKG membership number. Please write clearly and use a water resistant marker!
For evaluation the fishes will be classified in 15 groups:
Gruppe 01 Eurasian Killifishes
Gruppe 02 Northamerican Killifishes
Gruppe 03 small Rivulus
Gruppe 04 large Rivulus
Gruppe 05 Southamerican annual fishes
Gruppe 06 Nothobranchius, Pronothobranchius und Fundulosoma
Gruppe 07 Fundulopanchax gardneri group
Gruppe 08 all other Fundulopanchax und Radaella

Scriptaphyosemion
Gruppe 14 Epiplatys, Pseudepiplatys, Aplocheilus, Pachypanchax and Episemion
Gruppe 15 Lampeyes and Oryzias
The breeding groups will be integrated into the above mentioned 1 – 15 groups.
In these groups, two evaluators will give points for the exposed fishes.Between 1 and maximally 10 points will be given. In case the conditions are not fulfilled (for instance number of males / females or any disease is present), no evaluation will take place (k. B. = keine Bewertung = no assessment). Among those fishes with the highest number of scores, the first three places and the best breeding group will be defined.
The evaluators´ decisions are incontestable!
The three best pairs of adult specimens as well as the best breeding group of each show group will receive a certificate and a prize.
Special awards are as follows:
Best of show
Best foreign fish sent in
Best Chromaphyosemion
Best breeding group
KEP-Appreciation Award
Awards of foreign Killifish Associations should be announced in advance. Each killifish breeder participating in the show receives a free show list.
On the base of the DKG-by-laws, trading with fishes, peat with eggs and accessories inside the Convention rooms is not allowed.
