    XIII International Convention of the Portuguese Killifish Association-Regulation

    1 INTRODUCTION

    The International Convention of the Portuguese Killifish Association (APK) aims to contribute to the pursuit of the objective of the APK and is the most prominent annual event of the Association. In addition to other activities, in the course of this Convention will be held an exhibition, a contest and an auction that are covered by this regulation.

    2 RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibility for the organisation of the Convention pertaining to the direction of the APK. It is also to decide on any occurrence in the course of the event and is the body that should be submitted any and all complaints. The decisions of the Board in these matters are final and without appeal.
    It is the responsibility of all competitors participating in the Convention and full compliance with this Regulation

    3 EXHIBITION

    3.1 International Convention of APK will take place an exhibition of fish and photographs.
    3.2 registration of fish and photographs in the exhibition is free.
    3.3 shall be accepted at the exhibition all oviparous fish belonging to the order Cyprinodontiformes.
    3.4 may be accepted at the exhibition species not currently included in 3.3 but who already have been in the past (e.g. species belonging to Adrianictideos including Oryzias and Xenopoecilus). These species will not be admitted to the contest.

    3.5 the fish for exhibition must be pre registered until Wednesday, October 16th by 10:00 pm, and must be delivered until Saturday October 19th by 12:00. The pre registration should be made to the mail convencao@apk.pt.

    3.6 The fish do not pre registered must be delivered by Friday, October 18th, at 12:00.

    3.7 the fish registration for exhibition must be accompanied by the following information: name and competitor's Association; identification of the species; sub-specie population collecting code (when applicable). The organiser reserves the right to change data proven to be incorrect and will update the nomenclature of the species presented, in accordance with the current nomenclature and for ease of comprehension on the part of the participants the genus to which the species were formerly placed in parenthesis (for example: Ophtalmolebias (simp.) constanciae…).
    3.8 the fish included in the exhibition will not be returned and will be auctioned. Revenues shall revert to the APK.
    3.9 fish should be sent to:

    3.10 will be accepted at the exhibition all the photos somehow related to Killifish.
    3.11 the photographs included in the exhibition will not be returned to integrate the photographic archive of the APK, reserving the right of the Association to make use of them freely in any publication.
    3.12 the images are accepted and evaluated on photographic paper with dimensions close to A4. Should, however, be accompanied by a copy in digital form to be sent to the e-mail address convencao@apk.pt.This file should be accompanied by the identification of the author, of the Association to which he belongs and the species photographed.

    4 CONTEST

    4.1 fish may be presented in the contest by all persons belonging to at least one Association of Killifish.
    4.2 In the contest will be accepted only fish born on the premises of competitors. So, they are excluded from wild fish or any other tender acquired by competitor after his birth.
    4.3 the contest are accepted lots presented by two different competitors since each competitor comply with the above in 4.1 and 4.2 for the fish.
    4.4 the contest Categories
    Group I-9, Callopanchax and Aphyosemion (Raddaella)
    Group II-Aphyosemion (Aphyosemion s.s. and Mesoaphyosemion) Scriptaphyosemion, Archiaphyosemion, Episemion and Nimbapanchax
    Group III-Aphyosemion (Chromaphyosemion, Diapteron and Kathetys)
    Group IV-Epiplatys, Aplocheilus, Aphyoplatys, Pseudepiplatys and Pachypanchax
    Group V-Laimosemion, Atlantirivulus, Rivulus, Anablepsoides, Melanorivulus, Prorivulus and Kryptolebias
    Group VI-, Pronothobranchius and Fundulosoma, Nothobranchius Paranothobranchius
    Group VII – Austrolebias, Simpsonichthys, Terranatos, Nematolebias, Gnatolebias, Leptolebias and other annual South American genera
    Group VIII-Other genera
    Group IX-Breeding groups Non-Annual
    X-Breeding groups – Annual
    Group XI – Photography
    4.5 Awards
    Will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for groups I to X and 1st Prize to group XI. Will be awarded a prize for the Best Lot on display.
    4.6 Judges
    4.6.1 each group is evaluated by two judges appointed by the direction of the APK.
    4.6.2 No judge can sort categories where his fish are in the contest.
    4.7 Rating
    4.7.1 the classification of batches entered in groups I to X shall be from 0 to 10 points. The judges must sort the batches having regard to the following aspects: coloring; size; male-female size ratio; General appearance-health; State of the fins. The judges shall indicate the 3 first classified in each group.
    4.7.2 In group XI the judges just designate the winning image and should be valued the technique used (image quality), composition, visual impact, originality and color fidelity.
    4.8 Miscellaneous
    4.8.1 in the IX and X groups the concept followed by APK is that breeding groups will be made up of three couples or two males and four females of young fish with  sex already well apparent to the reproductive heyday. The classification should penalise both individuals too young as too old.

    5 AUCTION

    5.1 the basis of bidding for the lots belonging to the groups I to VIII is 3 € and for the lots belonging to the groups IX and X is 5 €.
    5.2 the auctioneer will increment the value of the bid at € 1 up to 25 € and 3 € above 25 € whenever there are two or more bidders bidding.
    5.3 When only one bidder remaining arm lifted the auctioneer will start the count from 1 to 3.
    5.4 if not manifest any bidder until the auctioneer say “3” lot will be won by the last bidder by the last value announced by the auctioneer.
    5.5 the batch will be delivered to the last bidder against immediate cash payment. If this does not happen the batch will be re-auctioned.
    5.6 non-tendered lots will be sold after the auction to your respective base price (3 € Group I to VIII, 5 € Group IX and X). All lots not sold in this way will be returned to its creators. If this cannot be done, should be saved for members of the Executive Board for delivery to prospective new members.
    5.7 Any doubt or disagreement arising from the auction will be subject to the final decision of the Board of the APK
