Please tell me what are your native wild killifish in Portugal ? Also where can I find them
Hello,
Unfortunately we don't have any native killie in Portugal.
What we do have is the oldest exotic American fish in Europe: Fundulus heteroclitus macrolepidotus. This fish traveled inside the Spanish ships returning from the New World, likely in the water remaining on the ship's hold floor. It was so long ago that the scientists first considered it a fish native.
You can find this fish at the Guadiana's mouth, namely at Castro Marim, in the wetlands nearby:

Now it's the right time to find it because the water is not too salty and it is the breeding season.
